Supply Chain Tech News Roundup: Exiger, RELEX, CJ Logistics

RELEX Adds Optimity Expertise to Supply Chain Platform; Exiger in US Government Electronics Supply Chain Move; CJ Logistics Builds ‘Logistics 4.0’ Solution

RELEX adds Optimity expertise to supply chain platform

RELEX Solutions has announced a Consumer Goods & Production business unit, a dedicated sales, delivery, engineering, customer success and support team.

RELEX provides an end-to-end supply chain and retail planning platform. The new unit is the result of the company acquiring managed-IT services provider, Optimity.

The new unit leverages Optimity’s ability to build optimised supply and production plans. It will be led by Stefano Scandelli, who will serve as General Manager.

“This new business unit will help us minimise wasted cost, effort and product in the end-to-end consumer goods supply chain,” said Scandelli. “We already have a strong planning offering for production companies, but can now further establish stronger supply chain integration and collaboration between suppliers and retailers in leading to further efficiencies.”

Exiger helps secure US government electronics supply chain

SaaS supply chain management specialist Exiger has been named the strategic technology partner for a key organisation that helps the US government access resilient and trusted electronics supply chains.

Exiger’s relationship with the US Partnership for Assured Electronics (USPAE) will focus on using the latest technology and expertise to map, monitor, and secure electronics supply chains.

Under the new partnership, USPAE will vet prospective member applicants to ensure they are qualified suppliers through 1Exiger, Exiger's supply chain resilience platform.

"We're thrilled to partner with USPAE to empower their mission to facilitate innovation and collaboration across industry and government, while upholding the highest standards in advanced electronics quality and security," said Trevor Stansbury, Exiger's President of Supply Chain Transformation.

"We share its mission to secure US and allied supply chains for critical electronic components and guard against sabotage, attacks and undue influence from adversarial actors."

"The Exiger platform will help identify and mitigate supply chain risks, providing a greater competitive advantage to members," said Nathan Edwards, USPAE's Executive Director.

CJ Logistics builds ‘Logistics 4.0’ solution on Ericsson 5G

Global logistics company CJ Logistics has partnered with Ericsson to deploy the first full-scale commercial private 5G network in the logistics sector.

The new network – in Icheon City, South Korea – will help the company receive, sort and categorise goods, as well as coordinate loading and unloading processes.

With 400 warehouse facilities in South Korea alone, as well as 40 more centres globally, the company says scaleability and easy deployment were factors in choosing the right communications provider.

The company says that, since the installation, it has achieved a 20% productivity hike at its Ichiri centre.

Most of the time savings have come from reduced times required for the picking process, where items are taken from shelves and prepared for shipping.

The Ericsson Private 5G Network is helping CJ Logistics deploy ‘Logistics 4.0’ technology, introducing more Internet of Things devices, and leveraging AI to make logistics centres even more productive.

CJ Logistics CIO Sangcheon Ryu said: "Connectivity serves as a backbone, enabling seamless communication, data exchange and coordination among various devices, systems and stakeholders involved in complex operations.

“The ability to utilise dedicated industry spectrum ensures our network's reliability and performance, making private 5G a strategic choice for our organisation."
