Sustainability LIVE a taster of ESG supply chain insight

Sustainability LIVE showcased Net Zero strategies, and next week Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE London will offer insight around sustainable value chains

There was much in the recent Sustainability LIVE London event of interest to those working in supply chain, not least discussions around ways organisations can move closer to their Net Zero goals.

One such talk was a fireside chat entitled ’How SMEs Can accelerate their journey to net zero’. This focused on sustainable manufacturing for SMEs, looking at how such enterprises can explore practical strategies and approaches to help achieve sustainability goals.

One speaker was Talia Goldman, ESG Manager at Colpac, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of innovative food packaging solutions. Goldman is responsible for delivering strategic projects to strengthen the company's ESG proposition.

The other was Emma Hird, who is Head of Carbon Services at energy consultancy Inspired PLC

Goldman’s role at Colpac includes responsibility for its carbon footprint calculations, and she has also developed a net zero strategy that includes deforestation-free supply chains and environmental ethics management.

“I ensure we’re at the cutting edge of policy and legislation,” she told the audience. “I enable Colpac to minimise its impact on nature, the environment and deforestation, and maximise social value in supply chains, compliance standards and employee wellbeing.”

Hird, meanwhile, has worked in the energy industry for a decade, on a range of research and compliance service provision in carbon reporting.

She is responsible both for developing and delivering compliance services for Inspired PLC’s clients.

Her main focus is measuring Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and using this data to support further carbon footprinting and net-zero services provided by the company.

Hird also has experience in energy auditing and analysis, and provides major businesses with fully managed energy and compliance programmes.
