Oracle Updates Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing
Oracle has announced it is introducing important new logistics functionality as part of its enterprise-level Oracle Fusion Service.
Fusion Cloud is a unified platform of apps, data, and capabilities that allow for workflows that are tailored by industry and use case.
Updates to Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SC&M). will help customers optimise logistics operations “by increasing visibility, reducing costs, automating regulatory compliance, and improving decision-making,” says the company.
Fusion SCM helps businesses transform their supply chain into a resilient network built upon forecast accuracy and end-to-end visibility, both of which allow for more effective supply chain planning and manufacturing.
The new functionality in Fusion SC&M is in response to organisations continuing to face seemingly endless supply chain challenges, from component shortages to disrupted shipping routes, ever-changing global trade agreements, and volatile customer demand.
New capabilities in Oracle Cloud SC&M include:
- Expanded business intelligence capabilities that allow customers to combine transportation and trade data with other operational data.
- Enhanced logistics network modelling, so logistics managers can model scenarios and compare scheduling options for drivers, so optimising fleet performance.
- New trade incentive program that allows customers to automate support for multiple country-specific trade programs, so reducing manual processes, and helping and cut duties and taxes.
- Updated Oracle Transportation Management Mobile App, which give users the ability to bid on spot-market shipments, capture shipment data, and to launch maps.
Oracle Fusion SCM 'mitigates logistic disruption'
"The past few years tested the resilience of global logistics operations and many organisations have struggled to adapt and insulate their business from ongoing disruptions," said Srini Rajagopal, VP Logistics Product Strategy at Oracle.
He added: "With Oracle Cloud SCM, organisations can seamlessly manage transportation, global trade, and distribution processes. This helps them improve the speed and accuracy of operations, optimise service levels, address compliance, and mitigate the impact of supply chain disruptions.
The updates to Fusion SCM have been welcomed by end users, including KMPG.
Gisele Belotto, Tax, Trade & Customs Principal at KPMG, says: "As a global business with offices in 143 countries and territories, we are continuously striving to improve visibility of global trade agreements and centrally manage cross-border business processes.
“Using our own tools, and those of alliance partners, we've been able to optimise our global trade processes to increase efficiency, lower costs, improve controls, and reduce risk across our operations."
