Exclusive Video: P&SC LIVE - Supply Chain Transformation
As the world’s fastest-growing procurement and supply chain event, Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE 2023 was a disruptive learning and networking event that showcased some of the industry’s top speakers across innovation, thought leadership and strategy.
Unblocking Supply Chain Transformation
Maria Villablanca, Co-Founder and CEO of Future Insights Network has extensive experience in the supply chain industry, working with over 130,000 senior supply chain and procurement leaders.
During her keynote at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE, Villablanca deep dives into the evolution of supply chains from a back-office function to a more strategic and influential role in business operations.
"I've had the privilege and opportunity of seeing that evolution and talking to quite a lot of people, giving me a great perspective on the supply chain industry,” said Villablanca.
Recent challenges
Discussing recent challenges in the industry - geopolitical issues, COVID-19, staffing shortages, raw materials scarcity, extreme weather conditions and trade disputes - Villablanca describes this as the perfect storm for supply chain transformation.
"This is a cocktail of crisis. It's not even a black swan event. A flock of black swans,” she added. “The perfect storm of crisis, change, evolution—that's the world that we're living in right now."
Supply chains of the future
With these crises bringing supply chains into the mainstream, turning sustainability, visibility, and resilience into critical drives, Villablanca predicts that the supply chain of the future will be a collection of autonomous micro supply chains within a larger ecosystem.
She believes that supply chains of the future will be powered by modular capabilities, data-driven, and focused on sustainability, as well as highly connected, real-time, and data-filled.
Villablanca concludes her keynote by looking into the challenges of transformation and how organisations can unblock these stressing the importance of articulating value and understanding the perspectives of key stakeholders.
"The person that's going to succeed in the future is going to be someone that is agile enough to communicate and deal with the landscape that we're dealing with—the critical thinker,” said Villablanca.
