PRESS RELEASE
European Supply Chain Institute Launches
‘Blockchain the Supply Chain’
Dublin 03/09/2018
The European Supply Chain Institute launches it’s ‘Blockchain the Supply Chain’ program addressing the information requirements of the supply chain in relation to Blockchain applications for the extended supply chain.
Blockchain promises to deliver more visibility, transparency and security throughout the supply chain and enable collaboration and proof of ownership between all trading partners in the network.
However much of the Blockchain information available today is very technically focused and does not recognise the fact that different industries will approach and engage with the technology in different ways.
This is especially true of the supply chain where data governance and compliance issues are particularly important as organisations operate in diverse locations globally. ‘Blockchain the Supply Chain’ will address the information requirements of the supply chain in regards to the applications of Blockchain and how it can be deployed to enhance supply chain visibility and provide a quantifiable RoI.
All key applications and platforms will be covered in the project and we will be including input from many of the major industry bodies to ensure that the supply chain has all the relevant information it requires when evaluating Blockchain and which applications and solutions make the most sense to deploy.
The Thought Leadership Board of the program has input from diverse organisations from shipping, logistics and technology. Key contributors include Kuehne & Nagel University, Everledger, NdT, Shipnext, Sourcemap, NXP.
The Board comprises of leaders in their respective fields with a deep understanding of the complexities both regulatory and commercial that need to be considered when deploying technology in organisations. They will add valuable insight and knowledge of blockchain applications for the benefit of the global supply chain.
“Without a doubt the emergence of Blockchain and its applications is very exciting and promises to transform the supply chain and how all trading partners collaborate globally. Due to the ongoing quest for supply chain visibility the supply chain is an ideal industry for Blockchain due to the need for true transparency and immutable proof of ownership of the products at each stage of distribution” states John Connors Director European Supply Chain Institute-Blockchain the Supply Chain.
