DB Schenker link Germany and Turkey with Bosporus Shuttle

DB Schenker will offer a new service knows as the ‘Bosporus Shuttle’ from September, incorporating three pairs of trains operating between Germany and Turkey each week.
This number will later be increased to five pairs of trains and will strengthen the existing offer between Western Europe and destinations in Turkey. DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria will transfer the trains directly to the Turkish State Railways.
The journey between the two destinations will take a total of five days to complete, covering a distance of over 2,000 kilometres, passing through five countries before arriving in Turkey; Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
Halkali in Istanbul will be travelers’ final destination at the end of the five days and the trains will also act as a container and ferry carloads as part of the service.
"We are able to offer this service to our customers thanks to DB Schenker Rail's powerful European network,” said Dr. Alexander Hedderich, CEO of DB Schenker Rail. “High reliability of the transports is guaranteed because we have control over production quality in the region with our companies and are able to offer end-to-end corridor management.”
The announcement was made at the Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich on June 5th.
